A New Low In email Marketing?

Posted By Stan

I find it absolutely amazing, the tricks people will come up with to try and con you into signing up for what they’re trying to peddle.

I received a ‘confirmation email’ tonight asking me to confirm my request for information.

The only trouble was, I hadn’t requested any information on the subject or from the person sending the email.

In a feeble attempt to make it look authentic the IP address from which the request was supposed to have been made was included. It wasn’t my IP nor was it even within my countries range. Not as smart as he thinks he is!

It’s a new low in SPAM, ‘cos confirmation emails will generally bypass SPAM filters. The confirmation link was at Aweber. I wonder what their take would be on it? I might find out.

The from email address was a Yahoo one so that’s obviously where he got it from, one of the groups I agreed to receive mailings from.

I’d have been far more receptive had he been upfront and just presented his offer HONESTLY.

It’s like the misspelt vi*gra  emails. If we’re trapping it when it’s spelt correctly why do they think we’re going to fall for it when it’s misspelt!?

I would like to believe the internet has matured beyond the slick, slimy, used car salesman techniques and that we’re moving to a more honest, upfront approach to marketing. Naive, yeah probably but I live in hope.

So, watch out for these, I have a feeling it’s just the start of a new trend. Give these people the message. Put their fodder where it belongs, in the garbage and only support honest straightforward promotions.

Graphic Links

Posted By Stan

Back as promised, although a lot later than I intended. Sorry for that.

Here are the links for the Free graphic programs.

Gimp: http://www.gimp.org

Paint.NET http://www.getpaint.net/download.html

Another free program that I use quite a lot for quick basic operations such as resizing, cropping etc is irfanview. It has a nice neat interface and is ideal for quickly fitting images into webpages etc. It’s capable of lots more and is really easy to use. I will cover it in one of the videos as well.

Irfanview http://www.irfanview.com/

Sorry but that’s all for now. I just wanted to get the links up as I promised.  I will be back again before too long this time.

Internet Business – How I Hate It!

Posted By Stan

Now why would anyone hate the phrase Internet Business? Well, as if you hadn’t guessed, I’m going to tell you.

Twelve months ago, wanting to become income secure, improve and secure my lifestyle I thought, Internet Business, that’s the way to go.

When you look around the net that’s what everyone’s telling you. It’s easy. Become an affiliate, no website, buy my guide, ‘make $10,000 before you wake up tomorrow’.

So I started researching, signing up on lists, buying this ebook, that system then this ebook. They all made sense, at the time, but while I was trying to set one up another ebook would kindly be made available to me.

I became a professional ebook buyer-reader and consequently never really completed anything fully or properly. I couldn’t afford to miss the next good thing see!

You have to be focused they said. Focused!?, I was so focused I coudn’t see past the end of my nose! But, I knew that it did work, could work. After all I’d been contributing to a lot of other people’s income security, hadn’t I?

I just knew I had to find the right way and the right way is not to do it alone. You need someone who’s already done it and I don’t mean by buying their ebook. You need someone who will work with you, you with them and they teach and guide you.

I’ve been lucky enough to be one of the 10 people that got on the Frank Haywood coaching course. What’s made the difference? For one thing I now have real focus, I can see the wood for the trees. I have a structured plan for product development which is on target and once it’s done I know what to do next.

You have to do it this way get yourself a real mentor. I’m not saying you can’t do it alone. Obviously some people did it alone in the beginning but how long did it take? Go it alone, it will take a long time, it will be frustrating, it will be expensive and wasteful.

Internet Business! I LOVE it!

Graphics

Posted By Stan

I’ve always been interested in graphics. One of my ancestors was a lithographic artist so I guess it’s in the genes. Several years ago, well before PCs, I did a commercial art course. One of the biggest parts of it was lettering. If we wanted Times New Roman we had to do it with a brush and Indian Ink unless you wanted a color of course.

Now you can knock out Times New Roman in seconds and that’s only the beginning of the fantastic things that PC’s are capable of when it comes to graphics. Having done a commercial art course has some advantages but when it comes to PC graphics it’s a whole new learning curve. Which is why I decided after months of struggling myself that a series of how to videos for computer graphics might be useful to others trying to get started.

You may think that getting good graphics software is expensive, if you want Photoshop, it is! What if I told you that there were two really top notch graphics programs that are FREE. I still find it amazing that this software is available to anyone who wants it, for nix, nather, zilch!

Now there are some really talented people on the net who already knew that and just went ‘duh! I knew that!’ Well a lot of other people didn’t, me included ’til a short while ago and it’s those people that I’m trying to enlighten. So if you’re a graphics genius, guru, expert this may not help you…….then again, you never know. Like everything else on PC’s, the net and life, there’s always something to learn

Anyway ‘nuf of that, GIMP and Paint.NET are the two and between them there isn’t much you can’t do in computer graphics.

I’m still working on the videos, I keep jotting thoughts in here to keep me going. It’s a sort of ongoing to do list. If I’ve put it in here then I’ve made the commitment to see it through. Trust me I need that. There’s too many distractions, other things I could easily do or not do.

It won’t be too long now and shortly I’ll tell you where you can find them, though I’m sure most of you could easily Google it for yourselves. I intend to start off with installing and setting them up, though most of it is pretty basic Windows stuff apart from a couple of little extras. The intention behind that is to make it a complete series from the beginning onwards. I’ll be back in a couple of days or so.
